RAINBOW LIGHT stumbled at the start.
WINNING VOLATILITY began only fairly and then shifted out towards the heels of HAPPY TANGO which on jumping shifted out and bumped CAPSULE KING.
TELECOM PUMA began awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and bumped DEMONS ROCK which shifted out and inconvenienced JOYFUL MOMENTS. This resulted in TELECOM PUMA losing ground. TELECOM PUMA was then ridden along, however, failed to muster speed.
JOYFUL MOMENTS was shifted across behind runners from the outside barrier in the early stages.
DEMONS ROCK was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Approaching and passing the 800 Metres, DOLLAR REWARD travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover.
When questioned, C Schofield stated that GOLD COMET was always off the bridle in the race and was never able to travel comfortably. He said he felt that the tempo of the race in the early stages was quicker than at its previous start and for this reason, despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, GOLD COMET was not able to balance up and travel strongly. He said GOLD COMET then finished off the race one-paced and following the race he recommended to connections that they consider stepping the horse up in distance at its next start to afford it the opportunity to travel better than it did today. A veterinary inspection of GOLD COMET immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
