THE HULK and TOTAL POWER bumped at the start. TOTAL POWER then shifted out and bumped HARMONY SPIRIT which became unbalanced. GIFT OF LIFELINE and BRIGHT KID were slow to begin. From wide barriers, LIFELINE VISION and WEALTHY DELIGHT were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After being ridden along in the early stages to obtain a forward position, STAR OF YUEN LONG travelled very keenly in the lead in the middle stages and then in the Straight gave ground. After the 1000 Metres, SPLENDID LIVING momentarily raced tight between EVERYONE’S DELIGHT and KA YING EXCELLENT which for the majority of the race travelled wide and without cover. Rounding the Home Turn, LIFELINE VISION attempted to improve into very tight running between THE HULK and SPLENDID LIVING which got its head on the side and lay out. As LIFELINE VISION commenced to improve between SPLENDID LIVING and THE HULK, SPLENDID LIVING became unbalanced and shifted out after being bumped by TOTAL POWER (Apprentice C L Chau) which shifted out to obtain clear running. When LIFELINE VISION was crowded for room, it made contact with the hindquarters of THE HULK which in turn shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of HARMONY SPIRIT. This resulted in HARMONY SPIRIT and THE HULK becoming unbalanced and shifting in, causing LIFELINE VISION to be steadied near the 250 Metres. As the Stewards were satisfied that LIFELINE VISION had not established running between SPLENDID LIVING and THE HULK prior to SPLENDID LIVING being bumped by TOTAL POWER, no further action was taken in respect of that matter. In regards to SPLENDID LIVING becoming unbalanced after being bumped by TOTAL POWER, Apprentice Chau was severely reprimanded and told that in similar circumstances he would be expected to exercise more care when shifting ground than he did on this occasion. A veterinary inspection of THE HULK, WEALTHY DELIGHT and KA YING EXCELLENT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of STAR OF YUEN LONG immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, STAR OF YUEN LONG will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. EVERYONE’S DELIGHT and HARMONY SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
