GO GO SIXTEEN began awkwardly and then was hampered by STAR OF GLORY which shifted out. In this incident, STAR OF GLORY became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by GO GO SIXTEEN.
FORTUNE PATROL began only fairly.
From wide barriers, JOLLY FOREVER, CABLE SPEED and RUN DES RUN were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
SMART COUSIN was also steadied in the early stages to obtain a position closer to the rail.
After travelling a short distance, FORTUNE WINNER and SUPERB DADDY bumped.
Passing the 1200 Metres, STAR OF GLORY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FORTUNE WINNER when obtaining cover behind that horse.
On entering the Back Straight, RUN DES RUN was left racing wide and without cover.
Making the turn after the 900 Metres, LOYAL AMBITION and RUN DES RUN bumped.
After the 700 Metres, OH BRAVO was taken wider by STAR OF GLORY which shifted out from behind FORTUNE WINNER. STAR OF GLORY then momentarily raced tight between FORTUNE WINNER and OH BRAVO approaching the 550 Metres. GO GO SIXTEEN was awkwardly placed behind STAR OF GLORY in consequence.
SMART COUSIN was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn.
Passing the 400 Metres, STAR OF GLORY shifted out and brushed RUN DES RUN, resulting in STAR OF GLORY becoming unbalanced.
JOLLY FOREVER had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Close to the finishing line, R Maia (SMART COUSIN) dropped his left rein.
A veterinary inspection of STAR OF GLORY and LOYAL AMBITION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE WINNER immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
SUPERB DADDY and SKY GEM were sent for sampling.
