STAND UP shifted out at the start and bumped FLYING BONUS. STAND UP was then crowded for room between FLYING BONUS and HAPPY FAT CAT which shifted out. A short distance later, HAPPY FAT CAT and CALL ME TEDDY were crowded for room between STAND UP and HANDSOME REBEL which shifted out. In this incident, STAND UP became unbalanced after being bumped by HAPPY FAT CAT.
THUNDERSTRIKE began only fairly and shortly after the start became unbalanced after being bumped by WOOD ON FIRE which got its head on the side and shifted out abruptly.
From the outside barrier, VAMOS was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Despite being ridden along for some distance in the early stages, LORIZ failed to muster speed.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, STAND UP travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover behind HAPPY FAT CAT.
HAPPY FAT CAT lost its right front plate passing the 900 Metres.
Approaching and passing the 800 Metres, HANDSOME REBEL and HAPPY FAT CAT raced tight as HANDSOME REBEL shifted out from behind the heels of FLYING BONUS.
Passing the 600 Metres, SHINING FORTUNE travelled very keenly and was checked away from the heels of THUNDERSTRIKE. When awkwardly placed behind THUNDERSTRIKE, SHINING FORTUNE shifted out and bumped SINGAPORE SPIRIT which became unbalanced.
Passing the 250 Metres, CALL ME TEDDY improved into tight running between THUNDERSTRIKE and HAPPY FAT CAT. CALL ME TEDDY was then crowded for room passing the 200 Metres between those horses, both of which shifted ground. In this incident, HAPPY FAT CAT became unbalanced on two occasions when bumped by CALL ME TEDDY.
SHINING FORTUNE was held up for clear running until after the 200 Metres at which time the horse was shifted to the outside of STAND UP. SHINING FORTUNE then raced tight between STAND UP and LUCKY RUBY until approaching the 100 Metres.
Throughout the race, LUCKY RUBY travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, THUNDERSTRIKE was noted to have bled from both nostrils and STAND UP was found to have sustained a minor laceration to the right hind cannon.
A veterinary inspection of CALL ME TEDDY and HAPPY FAT CAT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SHINING FORTUNE and STAND UP were sent for sampling.
