On arrival at the Start, it was noted that VALIANT FORTUNE had blood in the mouth. VALIANT FORTUNE was examined by the Veterinary Officer and found to be suitable to race. CHIU CHOW BROTHER shifted in at the start and bumped CIRCUIT SPIRITANTO. CHIU CHOW BROTHER then bumped GENERAL WINNER a short distance after the start. REACH GOAL began only fairly and then was bumped by AMAZING NEWS which shifted in. REACH GOAL and AMAZING NEWS were then shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. VALIANT FORTUNE shifted in at the start and bumped ALL RICHES which in turn shifted in and brushed BAEBAE TSOI which was also bumped on the hindquarters by PLIKCLONE which shifted out. After this, VALIANT FORTUNE and PLIKCLONE were steadied to obtain cover. Approaching the 1200 Metres, FANTASTIC SHOW was crowded for room inside REACH GOAL which was taken in by AMAZING NEWS which shifted in before being directed out to relieve the crowding to REACH GOAL and FANTASTIC SHOW. After the 1100 Metres, CHIU CHOW BROTHER became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of ALL RICHES. CIRCUIT SPIRITANTO was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and near the 300 Metres was checked away from the heels of BAEBAE TSOI as that horse commenced to give ground when racing tight outside CHIU CHOW BROTHER which improved into tight running between BAEBAE TSOI and ALL RICHES. Passing the 100 Metres, INFINITY WIN was shifted in away from the heels of BRILLIANT WAY (J Moreira) which lay in under pressure. J Moreira was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. After the race, H Bentley stated that CELESTIAL WARRIOR raced greenly in the early and middle stages and near the 1150 Metres shifted in of its own accord and brushed the running rail. He said after this CELESTIAL WARRIOR continued to lay in. A veterinary inspection of BAEBAE TSOI and CHIU CHOW BROTHER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. BRILLIANT WAY and GENERAL WINNER were sent for sampling.
