On jumping, EMERGING was crowded between MURRAY’S PARTNERS which shifted out and NICE BIRDIE which was taken in by KYRUS UNICORN. In this incident, NICE BIRDIE and KYRUS UNICORN made contact, resulting in KYRUS UNICORN becoming unbalanced. RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, BILLIONAIRE SECRET was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. From a wide barrier, KA YING GLORIOUS was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1200 Metres, MURRAY’S PARTNERS lay out which resulted in BOOM ALLIANCE improving to the inside of MURRAY’S PARTNERS and MURRAY’S PARTNERS then being obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter. For some distance approaching the 800 Metres, MURRAY’S PARTNERS and COLOURFUL BARON made contact when contesting for a position behind BOOM ALLIANCE. Near the 800 Metres, KYRUS UNICORN lay in, made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced. After the race, Z Purton (NICE BIRDIE) reported that the horse is still relatively immature at this stage of its career and would derive benefit from today’s racing experience. A veterinary inspection of NICE BIRDIE immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. The performance of NICE BIRDIE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, NICE BIRDIE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also after the race, M Chadwick (EMERGING) reported that his mount did not travel well throughout the event and raced in a disappointing manner. A veterinary inspection of EMERGING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of BOOM ALLIANCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. AMAZING TEENS and BILLIONAIRE SECRET were sent for sampling.
