JUMBO FORTUNE jumped only fairly and then was crowded shortly after the start by SUPERBELLA which shifted in. PRECISE EXPRESS was bumped at the start by ABOVE which shifted out. PRECISE EXPRESS was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages from a wide barrier. Shortly after the start, COMET SPLENDIDO was bumped by CASA COSMO which shifted in. A short distance later, COMET SPLENDIDO was steadied when crowded between CASA COSMO and ROUND THE EARTH which was taken out by CELTIC TIMES. COMET SPLENDIDO and CASA COSMO were then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. SUPERBELLA raced wide and without cover from the 800 Metres. Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres, SWAN BAY was held up for clear running. Between the 400 Metres and the 150 Metres, PRECISE EXPRESS was held up for clear running. From the 400 Metres, JUMBO FORTUNE became held up behind PERFECT TEAM. When attempting a narrow run to the inside of PERFECT TEAM near the 250 Metres, JUMBO FORTUNE was steadied when disappointed for this run and did not obtain clear running until near the 175 Metres. For some distance approaching the 200 Metres, CASA COSMO (M L Yeung) was held up for clear running behind CELTIC TIMES when that runner was giving ground. CASA COSMO was then shifted to the outside of CELTIC TIMES, causing BEAUTYVERSE, which was giving ground, to be steadied to avoid that runner. M L Yeung was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. After the race, B Avdulla (BEAUTYVERSE) reported that he had to make use of his mount to go forward to avoid racing wide and in the Straight BEAUTYVERSE was left without a finishing effort and raced "flat”. Also after the race, H Bentley (PERFECT TEAM) reported that his mount travelled well in the early and middle stages, but gave ground under pressure in the Home Straight and was most disappointing. A veterinary inspection of PERFECT TEAM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Following the race, K Teetan (ROUND THE EARTH) reported that he was obliged to make some use of his mount throughout the early and middle stages to hold a midfield position. He added that as a result when shifted to the outside and placed under pressure in the Home Straight ROUND THE EARTH failed to run on. A veterinary inspection of ROUND THE EARTH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of JUMBO FORTUNE and HIT THE SHOT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. UNIVERSAL HORIZON, YOUNG BRILLIANT and SWAN BAY were sent for sampling.
