Approaching the 150 Metres then had some difficulty obtaining clear running when being directed to the outside of FATAL BLOW. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on THE PERFECT MATCH at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, THE PERFECT MATCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.
METRO WARRIOR (D387): Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.
GLORY CLOUD (H320): When questioned, H Bowman stated that although his instructions were to ride his mount conservatively in the early stages, GLORY CLOUD was slow to begin and as a result settled at the tail of the field. He said with the early pace of the event being run inside of standard time GLORY CLOUD did not travel well and he was obliged to encourage his mount to maintain its position in the middle stages. He added after shifting GLORY CLOUD to the outside of HAPPY DAY near the 400 Metres, GLORY CLOUD finished the race off only fairly. Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions issued. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FATAL BLOW (J484): Bumped at the start. Sent for sampling post-race.
