CALIFORNIA VOCE (H258): Near the 300 Metres improved into a narrow run between SHARPEN BRIGHT and HAMERON and then raced tight between those runners in the Home Straight. Over the concluding stages was steadied when crowded between SHARPEN BRIGHT and HAMERON which was taken in slightly by ROCKET SPADE (H Bowman). H Bowman was advised to exercise more care. HAMERON (H265): Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when racing tight to the inside of ROCKET SPADE. SAMARKAND (H070): Sent for sampling post-race. CHAIN OF GOLD (J138): From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. When placed under pressure in the Home Straight lay in. After the event, Z Purton stated that his mount finished the race off in a satisfactory manner and in the circumstances he was not too disappointed with its performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ILLUMINOUS (J170): Jumped only fairly. Near the 450 Metres shifted out and made contact with SHARPEN BRIGHT. Near the 150 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running between SHARPEN BRIGHT and TOY SOLTERO and in this incident made contact with SHARPEN BRIGHT. After the event, J McDonald stated that his mount raced in a disappointing manner and could offer no explanation for its performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race. COMET SPLENDIDO (G071): Jumped only fairly. ROCKET SPADE (G170): Bumped shortly after the start. Sent for sampling post-race. WINNING STEPS (G420): No report. SHARPEN BRIGHT (H276): Shortly after the start shifted in and was bumped. Near the 450 Metres was bumped by ILLUMINOUS which shifted out to improve. ACE WAR (J509): Jumped only fairly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. FORTUNE SUPERSTAR (J210): No report. TOY SOLTERO (J268): After the event, B Thompson stated that his instructions were to endeavour to find a position with cover. He said when caught wide in the early stages and unable to comply with those instructions, he allowed TOY SOLTERO to stride forward to avoid covering additional ground and as a result raced outside the lead in a more forward position.
