STELLAR SWIFT (J139): Shifted in at the start and was bumped. After the event, H Bowman stated that he was given the option of holding an on-pace position. He said after commencing well and when caught wide he elected to continue forward to race outside the lead rather than covering additional ground. ETALON OR (J273): A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a minor laceration to the right hind cannon. Sent for sampling post-race. KA YING SUPERB (J091): Over the final 100 Metres raced tight to the inside of GALLANT EPOCH. RICH HORSE (J191): Fractious in the starting gates. Before being allowed to race again, RICH HORSE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. Crowded on jumping by THE AUSPICIOUS which shifted in after making contact with STELLAR SWIFT. GALLANT EPOCH (J451): Sent for sampling post-race. BOMBUS (J410): Bumped at the start. WROTE A NEW PAGE (K226): Crowded at the start by JOLLY JUMPER which shifted in. A Badel (JOLLY JUMPER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of WROTE A NEW PAGE, resulting in WROTE A NEW PAGE being crowded for room for some distance after the 200 Metres and having to be checked. A Badel was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 26 March 2025 at Sha Tin. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record. STRATHPEFFER (H095): For some distance near the 200 Metres raced tight to the inside of WROTE A NEW PAGE and made contact with that runner leaving the 200 Metres. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. SUNNY Q (J223): Jumped awkwardly and got its head up. Leaving the 200 Metres was eased to avoid THE AUSPICIOUS (M L Yeung) which shifted in. M L Yeung was advised to exercise more care. MUSANG KING (K068): Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. COSMIC SPURS (J380): Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with BOMBUS. After the event, B Thompson stated that from an inside barrier and his mount stepping up in distance he was given the option of holding a more forward position. HAPPY UNIVERSE (J533): Near the 900 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied to avoid BOMBUS. For some distance approaching the 200 Metres was held up for clear running. Leaving the 200 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between STRATHPEFFER and WROTE A NEW PAGE. Approaching the 150 Metres was then steadied when disappointed between SUNNY Q and WROTE A NEW PAGE and as a result was not able to be tested until near the 50 Metres. JOLLY JUMPER (K110): Shifted in at the start and was bumped. After being crossed by ETALON OR approaching the 1000 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from that runner. A Badel pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 200 Metres (see WROTE A NEW PAGE). THE AUSPICIOUS (K004): Bumped at the start and became unbalanced. When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer Y S Tsui stated that today’s win had come as a surprise to him. He said the only explanation he could offer for the improved performance was that THE AUSPICIOUS was suited by settling back in the field when the middle stages of the event was run inside of standard time and being advantaged by coming to the outside and receiving clear running in the Home Straight.
