PERFECT PAIRING (J331): Near the 150 Metres made contact with ROMANTIC FANTASY due to both runners shifting ground. As a result, M L Yeung, the rider of PERFECT PAIRING, was obliged to stop riding and straighten for a short distance when his mount became unbalanced. Sent for sampling post-race.
KINGLY DEMEANOR (H486): Over the concluding stages hung in and proved difficult to ride out. As a result Y L Chung was restricted in his ability to fully test the horse. After the event Y L Chung stated that he was instructed to go forward and lead if possible. He said KINGLY DEMEANOR bounded on jumping and as a result settled further back than had been intended. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HAKKA RADIANCE (J105): Near the 50 Metres shifted out and made contact with PERPETUAL POWER. After the event A Atzeni stated that his mount was obliged throughout the early stages to take the field up to the leader which set a fast pace. He said when LUCKY BANNER commenced to give ground near the 600 Metres his mount was then pressured in the lead by ROMANTIC FANTASY and as a result HAKKA RADIANCE finished the race off only fairly when placed under pressure in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LUCKY BANNER (G354): When questioned B Thompson stated that he had expected to lead the event from an inside barrier. He said in the early stages as he was aware LUCKY BANNER can race keenly he did not push his mount to hold the lead and LUCKY BANNER was able to show its natural speed to obtain the front. He said in the early stages LUCKY BANNER then commenced to race keenly and made the turn into the Home Straight on the first occasion awkwardly. He added that whilst he was aware LUCKY BANNER was setting a fast pace inside of standard time throughout the early stages the horse would not respond to his efforts to restrain and set a more sustainable pace. He said it was not until near the 1200 Metres that LUCKY BANNER responded to his efforts to come back and having regard to the way it raced in the early stages the horse was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. After considering his explanation and viewing the patrol films the Stewards were satisfied that Jockey Thompson had made his best endeavours to reduce the pace that the horse set in the early stages.
PING HAI COMET (H344): Sent for sampling post-race.
