SOARING DRAGON, which was leaning on the outside of its stall, began awkwardly and then shortly after the start was bumped by ENHANCED which shifted out. GO LUCKY GO was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, OUTDOOR PEGASUS became unbalanced after being bumped by PENGLAI XIANZI which in turn was bumped by DEPOSER which got its head on the side and shifted out. Near the 1200 Metres, OUTTALIMITZ was steadied away from the heels of LAMBRO which was taken in by HORSE SENSE. G Cheyne (OUTTALIMITZ) reported that near the 800 Metres his mount lost its action and became badly unbalanced. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ruled that, prior to racing again, OUTTALIMITZ will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. Near the 350 Metres, OUTDOOR PEGASUS and SOARING DRAGON bumped. Over the concluding stages, LAMBRO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of TAVERNER. Because of this, LAMBRO was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. In the Straight, BOUNCER hung out. Throughout the race, OUTDOOR PEGASUS travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, M Chadwick stated that he was not under any specific instructions on PENGLAI XIANZI other than to have the horse racing where it was comfortable. He said PENGLAI XIANZI began well and he allowed the horse to stride forward in order to clear SOARING DRAGON and ENHANCED which were racing to his inside. He said he had hoped to obtain some cover, however, PENGLAI XIANZI was left racing outside of the leader, DEPOSER. A veterinary inspection of PENGLAI XIANZI after the race revealed that the horse was lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, PENGLAI XIANZI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned, Apprentice T H So stated that unlike its most recent start, DEPOSER was not able to gain an uncontested lead due to PENGLAI XIANZI racing to his outside. He said this resulted in the race being run at a faster tempo than he had hoped and because of this DEPOSER was not able to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of DEPOSER and OUTDOOR PEGASUS after the race did not show any significant findings. SOARING DRAGON, ENHANCED and HAPPY PRESTIGE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that ENHANCED had sustained a small cut to the inside of its left hind cannon and that OUTTALIMITZ had lost its left hind plate.
