VILASOL and BLEDISLOE were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, CONQUEROR shifted out and bumped AMBITIOUS DRAGON, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. AMBITIOUS DRAGON travelled wide and without cover until passing the 900 Metres when it was allowed to stride forward to race outside the lead. When the pace steadied near the 900 Metres, VILASOL proved difficult to settle and was checked away from the heels of NOBLE DE BEST which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of UNITED. Passing the 900 Metres, UNITED was checked away from the heels of PACKING FRIEND. After the 800 Metres, CONQUEROR was left racing wide and without cover. Making the turn near the 550 Metres, NOBLE DE BEST was steadied away from the heels of UNITED. B Doyle, the rider of the 7th placed, BLEDISLOE, was reprimanded for failing to ride the horse out to the end of the race as required. A veterinary inspection of PACKING FRIEND after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of RECORD HIGH after the race revealed that the horse was lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, RECORD HIGH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of UNITED after the race revealed blood to be present at the right nostril. An endoscopic examination of UNITED confirmed that blood was found in the trachea and accordingly the horse was deemed an official bleeder. UNITED, AMBITIOUS DRAGON and NOBLE DE BEST were sent for sampling. <1/11/2010 Additional Veterinary Report >The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that NEW IDEA had sustained an injury to its left front tendon and was lame in the same leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, NEW IDEA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
