HAR HAR CHARMS began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, AMAZING SKY, which began awkwardly, was crowded for room and TELECOM NEW STAR was checked between ELUSIVE PRINCE which began awkwardly and BENEFACTOR (C K Tong) which shifted in. C K Tong was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he takes sufficient measures to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in future. From a wide barrier, GRAND STORE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. In the early stages, RIDE ON THE FIRE proved difficult to settle. Making the first turn after the 600 Metres, DANE PATROL got it head on the side and shifted out, resulting in GOOD BOY BOY and TURIN CHAMPION being taken wider. Also making the first turn after the 600 Metres, TELECOM NEW STAR got its head on the side, hung out badly and ran very wide. The racing manners of TELECOM NEW STAR were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, TELECOM NEW STAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend. Near the 500 Metres, MEGABUCKS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BENEFACTOR. For the majority of the race, INFALLIBLE CHOICE travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. After the race, Apprentice M L Yeung (GRAND STORE) reported the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of GRAND STORE after the race confirmed the horse to be a “roarer” which had previously been reported. A veterinary inspection of TELECOM NEW STAR and INFALLIBLE CHOICE after the race did not show any significant findings. GOOD BOY BOY and RIDE ON THE FIRE were sent for sampling.
