HAPPY CHA CHA was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of HEALTHY MANNER which shifted out after being bumped by SUISSE D’OR which began awkwardly. NORDIC STAR was slow to begin. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, SUISSE D’OR got its head up on a number of occasions when being checked away from the heels of HEALTHY MANNER. HAPPY CHA CHA, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence. Then for some distance after this, SUISSE D’OR continued to get its head up and proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of HEALTHY MANNER. For some distance approaching and passing the winning post on the first occasion, KIDSLAND BABY got its head up and proved difficult to settle. After the 1000 Metres, COMPACT YARN was steadied away from the heels of MOUNT VICTORY. Near the 900 Metres, SUISSE D’OR got its head up when being checked away from the heels of HEALTHY MANNER. KIDSLAND BABY, which was following, shifted out away from the heels of SUISSE D’OR in consequence. For some distance after the 200 Metres, MIRAGE R raced in restricted room between HEALTHY MANNER and ZEPHYRUS which shifted out slightly. Near the 100 Metres, HAPPY CHA CHA (J Lloyd), which had been held up for clear running for some distance, was shifted out around the heels of MOUNT VICTORY and in doing so made contact with COMPACT YARN on a number of occasions, causing both horses to become unbalanced. J Lloyd was advised to exercise care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Throughout the race, SUPREME TYCOON travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of COMPACT YARN and SUISSE D’OR after the race did not show any significant findings. COMPACT YARN, PRIVATE ROAD and ZEPHYRUS were sent for sampling.
