REGENCY WINNER was withdrawn on 13.6.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever and blood abnormality) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter EUPHEMISM. Before being allowed to race again, REGENCY WINNER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On the way to the Parade Ring, SPEECHMAKER shifted its left hind plate. This plate was refitted. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After being loaded, SPEECHMAKER became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, SPEECHMAKER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. After being loaded, EURO POWER also became fractious and reared on a number of occasions and then as the start was effected again reared and because of this lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, EURO POWER will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. On jumping, SMART FORTUNE was checked and EUPHEMISM crowded for room between SHAHJEE and SMART GIANT which was taken in by WITHINMYHEART which began very awkwardly and shifted in. In this incident, SMART GIANT became badly unbalanced. From a wide barrier, CARRY THE ZEAL was shifted across behind runners shortly after the start. After the 1100 Metres, SMART GIANT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHAHJEE. Making the first turn near the 1000 Metres, YEE WONGCHOY was steadied away from the heels of FREE AND EASY (W C Marwing) which shifted in when not properly clear. W C Marwing was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground. Near the 900 Metres, CARRY THE ZEAL was steadied away from the heels of YEE WONGCHOY. Shortly after entering into the Straight, SMART GIANT was steadied when disappointed for running between FREE AND EASY and WITHINMYHEART. After this, SMART GIANT was shifted in to obtain clear running. For the majority of the race, SPEECHMAKER travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of EURO POWER after the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had lost its left front plate. SMART GIANT, SHAHJEE and MANY GAINS were sent for sampling.
