CHANTILLY was slow to begin. SUPREME TYCOON and HEALTHY CONTENDER were crowded for room at the start between KUNG HEI FAT CHOI and WADASURPRISE, both of which shifted ground. From wide barriers, SABINA, DAILY DOUBLE and RACING SPORT were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. At the 1200 Metres and again near the 1000 Metres, RAIN OF THUNDER shifted out when being checked away from the heels of NOBLE TWINS. Near the 900 Metres, RAIN OF THUNDER, which was continuing to over-race was checked away from the heels of MASTER DRAGON. Approaching the 900 Metres, SABINA was momentarily crowded for room between RAIN OF THUNDER and RACING SPORT, both of which shifted ground. Approaching the 800 Metres, DAILY DOUBLE lost ground when awkwardly placed close to the heels of RACING SPORT. Shortly after entering into the Straight, KUNG HEI FAT CHOI was held up when disappointed for running between MEGA CASTLE and RAIN OF THUNDER. After the 200 Metres, MEGA CASTLE shifted in and bumped SUPREME TYCOON, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. Near the 100 Metres, after initially being taken in slightly by MASTER DRAGON, RAIN OF THUNDER (K C Leung) shifted in of its own accord when being ridden along, resulting in MEGA CASTLE being steadied when crowded for room outside SUPREME TYCOON. K C Leung was severely reprimanded and advised that he must ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts shifting ground. Near the 50 Metres, SABINA got its head on the side and shifted in towards the heels of MASTER DRAGON. W M Lai (NOBLE TWINS) was warned for raising his whip arm above shoulder height in the Straight. Throughout the race, MASTER DRAGON travelled wide and without cover. Z Purton reported that MEGA CASTLE was inclined to travel keenly due to the slow tempo of the event. He said because of this MEGA CASTLE was not able to close off the race. A veterinary inspection of MEGA CASTLE after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of CHANTILLY after the race revealed that the horse had sustained a laceration to the right hind fetlock and a cut to the left hind leg and had lost its left hind plate. MEGA CASTLE, HEALTHY CONTENDER and RAIN OF THUNDER were sent for sampling.
