HO WONGCHOY shifted out at the start and bumped OWNERS’ GLORY. After this, OWNERS’ GLORY was taken across behind runners. Passing the 1700 Metres, JUN HUA and PUBLIC FIGURE bumped. Throughout the race, HO WONGCHOY travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. HOLLYWOOD KISS also travelled wide and without cover until near the 800 Metres. After the 500 Metres, VICTORY MASCOT was taken wider by OWNERS’ GLORY which shifted out to improve its position. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of DELTA HEDGE, D Whyte said that after his mount began awkwardly he had to ride DELTA HEDGE along in the early stages to take up a forward position as instructed. He said in the run to the winning post on the first occasion he had to ride DELTA HEDGE along to prevent FUN HEROES from shifting in, however, after passing the winning post on the first occasion he shifted in to race on the fence and after this DELTA HEDGE travelled satisfactorily. He said rounding the Home Turn he made his run when FUN HEROES improved to his outside and whilst FUN HEROES was able to finish off the race, DELTA HEDGE was disappointing in the manner in which it did not respond to his riding and weakened over the final 200 Metres. A veterinary inspection of DELTA HEDGE and HO WONGCHOY after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of JUN HUA after the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, JUN HUA will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DELTA HEDGE, INDIGO WAY and FUN HEROES were sent for sampling.
