FINEZZA began awkwardly and then shifted out shortly after the start and blundered when close to the heels of CHEF which began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped CALIFORNIA DUDE. For some distance in the early stages, KYARA and SEMOS proved difficult to settle. Making the turn after the 900 Metres, REAL SPECIALIST was checked away from the heels of DRAGON FIGHTER and in doing so took CALIFORNIA DUDE, which throughout the race travelled wide, wider. Passing the 800 Metres, KYARA got its head up and was checked away from the heels of CHEF when proving very difficult to settle and in doing so shifted out, resulting in SEMOS being crowded for room inside the heels of REAL SPECIALIST. After this, KYARA continued to prove difficult to settle and in the early part of the Straight had difficulty obtaining clear running. After the 100 Metres, N Callan (PACKING WHIZ) dropped his left rein. In the Straight, FINEZZA got its head on the side and hung out. REAL SPECIALIST and PACKING WHIZ were sent for sampling.
