BEAR SUPREME was withdrawn on 23.6.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MY WHISKY (T H So). Before being allowed to race again, BEAR SUPREME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WINNING BOY began awkwardly. BRILLIANT WORLD was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. REGAL ARMY, which was also being steadied with a view to being taken across behind runners, was bumped at the start by SOLAR SPIRIT which shifted out. Near the 1100 Metres, HORSESHOE FORTUNE was steadied after racing in restricted room inside TOP POWER (W M Lai) which shifted in. W M Lai was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. Near the 1000 Metres, K-MOOCHI got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied to allow VIVACISSIMO to cross. Near the 650 Metres, HORSESHOE FORTUNE was checked away from the heels of TOP POWER which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of K-MOOCHI. At the same stage, WINNING BOY got its head up when being checked away from the heels of AFRICA LIGHT. REGAL ARMY, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of WINNING BOY and shifted out and in doing so made contact with BRILLIANT WORLD which became unbalanced. Near the 350 Metres, TOP POWER was steadied away from the heels of K-MOOCHI which shifted in. Close to the finishing line, REGAL ARMY got its head on the side, shifted in and was steadied away from the heels of SOLAR SPIRIT. Throughout the race, WINSOME travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that WINSOME had lost its right hind plate and had sustained cuts to the right hind heel. A veterinary inspection of VIVACISSIMO after the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being permitted to race again, VIVACISSIMO will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. VIVACISSIMO, AFRICA LIGHT and WINNING BOY were sent for sampling.
