HAPPY WISDOM began very awkwardly, resulting in its rider, C K Tong, becoming badly unbalanced in the saddle. Shortly after the start, DIAMOND AGATE and REALLY THE BEST were hampered when HAPPY WISDOM shifted in after making contact with the hindquarters of SPARKLING. From a wide barrier, ICE FIRE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1300 Metes, HAPPY WISDOM was steadied away from the heels of F S WINNER. PLOT RATIO, which was racing outside HAPPY WISDOM, was inconvenienced in consequence. Passing the 700 Metres, F S WINNER momentarily raced in restricted room between PRECISION MAGIC and REALLY THE BEST. After the 500 Metres, PLOT RATIO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of REALLY THE BEST. Throughout the race, GORGEOUS RULER and PRECISION MAGIC travelled wide and without cover. After the race, W C Marwing stated that after the 800 Metres MIRAGE R came under heavy pressure to hold its position. He said because of the manner in which MIRAGE R was travelling, he shifted the horse to the outside of runners rounding the Home Turn and after this it travelled more genuinely. He said, in his opinion, MIRAGE R resented the kickback which was a reason for the horse failing to hold its position mid-race. A veterinary inspection of MIRAGE R after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, MIRAGE R will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of GORGEOUS RULER after the race did not show any significant findings. M’S MAGIC and FANTASTISCH were sent for sampling.
