Whilst in the saddling stalls, COUNTRY CHARM had its left front plate refitted. COUNTRY CHARM was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. KING TAI SING proved difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, KING TAI SING will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. GOOD TREASURE began awkwardly and shortly after the start shifted in and bumped AEROVELOCITY. From outside barriers, EXCITING DREAM and BIG FOUR were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, FLYING CHAPARRAL was unable to show sufficient speed to cross runners to its inside and consequently travelled wide and without cover. In the early part of the race, AEROVELOCITY raced greenly. Passing the 800 Metres, EXCITING DREAM momentarily raced tight inside KING TAI SING. After shifting in rounding the Home Turn, AEROVELOCITY became unbalanced after being shifted back out by its rider to avoid causing interference to BIG FOUR to its inside. NORDIC ONE had difficulty obtaining clear running between SAMADHI and BULLISH FRIEND in the early part of the Straight. Near the 300 Metres, EXCITING DREAM was shifted in away from the heels of FLYING CHAPARRAL which was commencing to give ground. Approaching the 200 Metres, KING TAI SING got its head on the side and shifted in towards the heels of FLYING CHAPARRAL. KING TAI SING continued to be awkwardly placed outside the heels of FLYING CHAPARRAL for some distance after this. Passing the 150 Metres, EXCITING DREAM was shifted to the inside of the heels of AEROVELOCITY when disappointed for running to the outside of that horse and inside BOMBER JET. Approaching the 50 Metres, EXCITING DREAM was steadied when held up for clear running behind AEROVELOCITY. EXCITING DREAM then shifted to the inside of that horse to obtain clear running and in doing so brushed BIG FOUR. Throughout the race, KING DERBY travelled wide and without cover. VICTORIUS and AEROVELOCITY were sent for sampling.
