KEEN WONGCHOY began awkwardly. MASQUERADER began only fairly and shortly after the start momentarily raced in restricted room between KING OF REASON and CLASSIC JEWELLERY which shifted out. After this, MASQUERADER was ridden along to obtain a forward position. MASQUERADER then proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages. From the outside barrier, JOLLY FINE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Shortly after entering the Straight, JOLLY FINE was shifted out away from the heels of DOUBLE GLORY which when giving ground was taken out by SILVER GRECIAN which shifted out to obtain clear running. At the 400 Metres, JOLLY FINE and FREE JUDGEMENT bumped. Passing the 150 Metres, CLASSIC JEWELLERY lost ground when reluctant to maintain its position between SILVER GRECIAN which shifted in slightly and NOBLE ALPHA which got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure. Throughout the race, DOUBLE GLORY travelled wide and without cover. After the race, R Fourie said that, in his opinion, MASQUERADER did not run out the distance of tonight’s race. A veterinary inspection of MASQUERADER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FREE JUDGEMENT and SILVER GRECIAN were sent for sampling.
