STARTING OVER and DIAMOND ELEGANCE bumped at the start. A short distance after the start, STARTING OVER and FORMULA WON were crowded for room between DIAMOND ELEGANCE which shifted out and COUR VALANT which shifted in after being bumped by PRECISION KING. From the outside barrier, CROESUS was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. When left racing wide in the early stages, AMEDEO was taken across behind runners passing the 700 Metres. Approaching the 600 Metres, HAWTHORNE was left racing wide and without cover and then was taken wider passing the 500 Metres when COUR VALANT shifted out away from the heels of PRECISION KING. Approaching the 500 Metres, CROESUS shifted out away from the heels of AMEDEO. At the entrance to the Straight, COUR VALANT got its head on the side and shifted out away from FORMULA WON which was being shifted to the outside of MR GINGER into clear running. Passing the winning post, BEAUTY SPARKLE shifted out abruptly. A veterinary inspection of CROESUS immediately following the race revealed the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, CROESUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BEAUTY SPARKLE and BUNDLE OF JOY were sent for sampling.
