BORN TO WIN began awkwardly and lost ground. STREET CAT was slow to begin. JUN JU began awkwardly and shifted out at the start, resulting in BRIGHT STAR being taken out across the running of ETERNAL GAINS which was checked when crowded for room inside SPURS ON. From a wide barrier, LA COTE DE BLEU was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. JUN JU was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight. Approaching the 300 Metres, STREET CAT was shifted to the outside of BORN TO WIN into clear running. Passing the 200 Metres, DRAGON GLORY and YOUNG WARRIOR, which were giving ground after racing wide and without cover, were momentarily hampered by SPURS ON which shifted to the outside of BRIGHT STAR into clear running. Over the concluding stages, BRIGHT STAR was awkwardly placed between JUN JU and SPURS ON which shifted in under pressure. Because of this, BRIGHT STAR was not able to be properly tested. Both N Pinna (ENJOY THE GAME) and T H So (LA COTE DE BLEU) were spoken to regarding the use of the whip on horses which were clearly out of contention. A veterinary inspection of PERI PERI SAFFRON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. BRIGHT STAR, DASHING FORTUNE and JUN JU were sent for sampling.
