A Suborics was fined the sum of $5,000 for being overweight on MIGHT AND VISION. C Y Ho was substituted. Both D Whyte (NIGHTLIGN) and Apprentice C Y Lui (HAPPY GOAL) were fined the sum of $2,000 for failing to present themselves into the Parade Ring by the required time. On arrival at the Start, it was noted that YOUNG SUPREME had blood at its mouth. An examination performed by the Veterinary Officer found that horse to be suitable to race. YOUNG SUPREME lost its left front plate at the start. HAPPY GOAL became unbalanced on jumping when crowded for room between MARVEL PLUS and MIGHT AND VISION, both of which shifted ground. In this incident, MARVEL PLUS also became unbalanced and lost ground. After this, HAPPY GOAL was ridden along in an attempt to obtain a forward position. From the outside barrier, FLYING KEEPER was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. After the 800 Metres, MIGHT AND VISION was left racing wide and without cover. Rounding the Home Turn, MARVEL PLUS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of COLUMBUS LINE. MARVEL PLUS was then held up for clear running until near the 350 Metres and was again held up for clear running passing the 200 Metres. Rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, COLUMBUS LINE and MIGHT AND VISION made contact as COLUMBUS LINE attempted to shift to the outside of NIGHTLIGN into clear running. Passing the 300 Metres, YOUNG SUPREME was crowded for room between KIM GLORY and HEARTILY TALK which, when commencing to give ground, got it head on the side and lay in. At the 200 Metres, D Whyte dropped his whip. A veterinary inspection of NIGHTLIGN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of HEARTILY TALK and VAJRA THRONE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performances of HEARTILY TALK and VAJRA THRONE, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HEARTILY TALK and VAJRA THRONE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CITY POWER and COLUMBUS LINE were sent for sampling.
