WINNER’S WAY and BORN IN CHINA bumped at the start. After this, both WINNER’S WAY and BORN IN CHINA were shifted across behind runners. Throughout the race, WAH MAY FRIEND travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, B Prebble stated that it was intended for LUCKY BUBBLES to take up a forward position, however, the horse did not show early speed despite being ridden along. He said LUCKY BUBBLES was then very disappointing in the manner in which it failed to close off the race competitively. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY BUBBLES immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of LUCKY BUBBLES, the favourite for the majority of the betting today, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY BUBBLES will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WINNER’S WAY and BORN IN CHINA were sent for sampling.
