On arrival at the Start, the tongue tie applied to VICTORY FOLLOW ME was replaced.
VICTORY FOLLOW ME began only fairly.
GOLDEN CANNON was crowded for room on jumping between LE PEGASE and ROOKIE STAR which shifted out. In this incident, GOLDEN CANNON made contact with the hindquarters of LE PEGASE which became unbalanced.
From the outside barriers, MASTER BERNINI, TRAVEL AMBASSADOR and ROMANTIC JOURNEY were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
DASHING DART was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Despite being ridden along for some distance in the early stages, MY BLESSING failed to muster speed and approaching the winning post on the first occasion was steadied to obtain a position with cover behind VICTORY FOLLOW ME.
Approaching the 1300 Metres, ROOKIE STAR commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of VICTORY FOLLOW ME. Then passing the 1300 Metres, ROOKIE STAR shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of MY BLESSING which became unbalanced and shifted out towards the heels of VICTORY FOLLOW ME.
At the entrance to the Straight, GOLDEN CANNON shifted out and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of VICTORY FOLLOW ME.
Approaching the 200 Metres, VICTORY FOLLOW ME raced tight outside GOLDEN CANNON which improved into tight running between that horse and LE PEGASE after being awkwardly placed behind that horse for a short distance.
Near the 150 Metres, TRAVEL AMBASSADOR was awkwardly placed behind WONDERFUL TIGER when attempting to improve into tight running inside that horse and subsequently had some difficulty obtaining clear running.
Throughout the race, FATE FIRE travelled wide and without cover and in in the Straight gave ground. The performance of FATE FIRE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FATE FIRE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of FATE FIRE, MASTER BERNINI and MY BLESSING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GOLDEN CANNON and DASHING DART were sent for sampling.
