BUDDIES stumbled badly at the start.
RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and began only fairly.
OWNERS’ STAR shifted in abruptly at the start and made heavy contact with RULE THEE, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
BEAR SLAM began awkwardly.
From wide barriers, RIGHT HONOURABLE and HAPPY SEBRING were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Making the turn after passing the winning post on the first occasion, RIGHT HONOURABLE was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the heels of RULE THEE.
Approaching the 1400 Metres, RULE THEE was left racing wide and without cover.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, RIGHT HONOURABLE was steadied when unable to proceed between RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE and HAPPY SEBRING which improved quickly around RIGHT HONOURABLE.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on VOLPINO at the request of Trainer T P Yung. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, VOLPINO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
