On jumping, MEGA HEART was inconvenienced by LARSON which shifted out. Then, from the outside barrier, MEGA HEART was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
On the turn approaching the 500 Metres, HONG KONG BET was steadied away from the heels of WINNER SUPREME after being awkwardly placed inside the heels of that horse for some distance.
Throughout the race, CALIFORNIA CONCORD travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, A Badel stated that EXPLOSIVE WITNESS was somewhat out-paced in the early stages, but that is consistent with the horse’s general racing pattern over 1000 Metres at Happy Valley. He said however that the horse did not close off the race as expected and was disappointing. He said EXPLOSIVE WITNESS felt "flat” tonight. A veterinary inspection of EXPLOSIVE WITNESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of WINNER SUPREME immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, WINNER SUPREME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
GRATEFUL HEART and MULTIMILLION were sent for sampling.
