CZARSON began only fairly and then was hampered on jumping outside SUNSET WATCH which shifted out. MAJESTIC STAR began awkwardly. From the outside barriers, MEGA HEART, TRANSCENDENT, ELON and GOLD CHEST were all steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Passing the 1150 Metres, CZARSON was eased away from the heels of MAN STAR. At the same point, MAJESTIC STAR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPER DOBBIN. After this, MAJESTIC STAR proved very difficult to settle when being steadied to obtain cover behind MAN STAR. This resulted in MAJESTIC STAR being checked away from the heels of GUNNISON passing the 800 Metres. After the 900 Metres, TRANSCENDENT was shifted in away from the heels of ELON which was being steadied to obtain cover. TRANSCENDENT then shifted in and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MAJESTIC STAR. Passing the 600 Metres, GOLD CHEST raced tight outside TRANSCENDENT which shifted out. Approaching the 100 Metres, GUNNISON was momentarily hampered when taken out across the heels of ELON by MAJESTIC STAR which, when endeavouring to improve to the outside of MAN STAR, was shifted out away from the heels of that horse as MAN STAR shifted out under pressure. This resulted in MAJESTIC STAR having to be shifted out away from the heels of MAN STAR approaching the 50 Metres. MAJESTIC STAR then raced tight outside MAN STAR over the concluding stages. Throughout the race, QUADRUPLE DOUBLE travelled wide and without cover. After the race, J Moreira stated that, in his opinion, WHEN YOU BELIEVE was very disappointing in tonight’s race. He said he was able to obtain a forward position in the early stages without having to ride WHEN YOU BELIEVE too aggressively. He said he was then able to lead the race at an average tempo in the middle stages and therefore anticipated that the horse would quicken well rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight. He said after the 400 Metres he placed WHEN YOU BELIEVE under pressure and after initially responding satisfactorily to his riding then weakened over the final 200 Metres. A veterinary inspection of WHEN YOU BELIEVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. WHEN YOU BELIEVE, ELON and CZARSON were sent for sampling.
