DR MORE and THE GOODIES were slow to begin. Near the 1000 Metres, SOLAR POWER was carried out to a three wide position by AMSTERDAM which shifted out after being crossed by DR POSSI. After this, SOLAR POWER continued to race without cover. Approaching and passing the 300 Metres, THE GOODIES had difficulty obtaining clear running. After the 100 Metres, SOUTH BREEZE and BEST POWER brushed. In the Straight, DR POSSI hung out and over the concluding stages shifted wider on the track, causing DASHING THUNDER to be carried wider. D Whyte (MAN IN THE MIRROR) explained from the outside barrier he was instructed to obtain a position with cover. He said as has previously been explained if MAN IN THE MIRROR is ridden along in the early stages of its races, it over-races and as a consequence does not finish the race off. MAN IN THE MIRROR was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MAN IN THE MIRROR after the race did not show any significant findings. SOUTH BREEZE, DASHING THUNDER and DR POSSI were sent for sampling.
