CARE FREE MIDAS began awkwardly and then despite being ridden along was slow to muster speed. After the 200 Metres, ALIVE AND KICKING got its head on the side and hung in. Over the concluding stages, THAT’S IT was carried wider by JADE DANCER which shifted out. Throughout the race, NEWSWIRE TOO and THAT’S IT travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the poor performance of KEEN FLYER, Apprentice K T Yeung was unable to offer any explanation. He said his mount travelled in a forward position as anticipated at a reasonable tempo, however, on straightening came under pressure and failed to respond to his riding. He said he had ridden KEEN FLYER in its track work leading into today’s race and in his opinion this work was only fair. KEEN FLYER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of KEEN FLYER after the race did not show any significant findings. CARE FREE MIDAS, MAGI JOY, JADE DANCER and THAT’S IT were sent for sampling.
