MULTI-WIN SPIRIT was slow to begin, then lost further ground when bumped by NOBLE ZOOM. Shortly after the start, REDHILL COMMANDER was steadied away from the heels of SOU MA TAM which shifted in when barely clear. Near the 1100 Metres, TATTENHALL DELIGHT and CHARMING MONKEYS were steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of MAINLAND MASTER which shifted in slightly. At the 900 Metres, MAINLAND MASTER became unbalanced after bumping with TATTENHALL DELIGHT. Approaching the turn at the 700 Metres, NOBLE ZOOM hung in. Making the turn after the 700 Metres, MULTI-WIN SPIRIT hung out. Throughout the race, MASTER YING travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the poor performance of CALIFORNIA HEART, Apprentice K L Chui was not able to offer any explanation. He said CALIFORNIA HEART was under pressure throughout the race, did not respond to his riding and commenced to give ground shortly after straightening. CALIFORNIA HEART was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIA HEART after the race did not show any significant findings. SOU MA TAM and MAJIN BUU were sent for sampling.
