Three weeks ago, over the same distance, the horse’s performance was unremarkable. He jumped slowly and settled towards the rear, picking up speed in the middle stages but failing to sustain it to the finish, losing by three and a half lengths. Returning from a spell, he will carry an additional 18 pounds this time. The horse has failed to place in four attempts over this course and distance; while expected to run from behind, his finishing kick is unlikely to match rivals. The trainer-jockey combination isn’t ideal, despite similar times in trackwork. Although drawing a good barrier and with Luke Ferraris taking the ride—who has some familiarity with the horse's capabilities—he isn’t considered a strong contender this race.
