On March 28th, during a Conghua turf trial over 1200m, the horse broke slowly but quickly moved towards the rail and showed further improvement. Four weeks ago, in a race over the same distance, performance was subpar; it had a slow start, settled back in the field, quickened mid-race, and finished fourth, beaten half a length. A subsequent barrier trial showed acceptable form. This time with a one-pound weight reduction, good times within its group, and an advantageous draw, it’s expected to track the pace. Based on relative ability, this horse is considered the strongest contender in this race; the jockey and trainer are a good match, and if it jumps cleanly and follows the leaders, a strong finish is anticipated.
