On March 25th, the horse recorded (dirt trial 1200m: 1-1-6), taking an early lead for two sections before easing up on the straight. Four weeks ago, over a Happy Valley 1200m, performance was satisfactory despite a slow start and settling towards the back of the field. It made a move in the middle stages but couldn't sustain the effort to finish. A subsequent barrier trial showed it lagging behind the required pace. Another Happy Valley sprint trial sees this horse carrying an eight-pound weight reduction; however, timing differences within its group are unfavorable, and there appears to be limited synergy between jockey and trainer. Despite drawing a good barrier, a hold-up strategy is anticipated, with potentially the strongest finishing kick in the field. The jockey has some understanding of the horse’s capabilities, but chances appear slim.
