Three weeks ago in a similar race, it ran respectably despite a slow start, settling towards the rear before launching a strong two-section burst to finish second, beaten by half a length. A recent barrier trial showed acceptable performance. This time, the horse will carry an additional two pounds, has proven form over this distance, and recorded the fastest time amongst its group. The tactics are expected to be hold-up and rely on a finishing kick – it possesses the strongest closing speed in the field. Compared to other contenders, it demonstrates a higher level of ability. The jockey has some familiarity with the horse’s capabilities, and trainer and jockey share similar expectations. Despite drawing an outside barrier which is unfavorable, the team remains confident.
