On May 29th (dirt trial 1200m: 7-7-9), the horse was ridden around the bend and eased up on the straight. Five weeks ago over the same distance, it ran a respectable race; slow out of the gate but finished strongly from behind to secure third place, beaten by only one length. A recent barrier trial did not show much promise. This time with a 1lb weight reduction, in a comparable class and drawing a good barrier, a hold-up tactic is expected given its finishing kick. The trainer and jockey are aligned in their assessment and the preparation has been thorough, suggesting it’s capable of turning the tables.
