He maintained a steady pace before finishing with a strong late surge to win by two and a half lengths. He then trialed over 2000m on the Sha Tin turf, and will carry four pounds more this time. The timing within his group was good, and he has an advantageous overall situation. Trainer and jockey are in agreement, however despite drawing an outside barrier, it is expected that he will settle towards the back again but may lack the finishing kick to defend his title.
