On September 23rd, the horse completed a dirt trial over 1200m (sections: 7-8-8), circling wide on the turn and running with restrained speed down the straight. Three weeks ago, in a Sha Tin turf mile, performance was below expectations; a slow start saw it settle towards the rear, picking up pace in the middle stages but failing to close the gap. It finished seventh, beaten three and a half lengths. One barrier trial has been undertaken, but further work is needed. Another turf trial over 1200m followed, with this race requiring a six-pound weight increase. An inside barrier draw offers a favourable position, and trainer/jockey cooperation seems strong. The horse is showing increased gate speed, however, the overall time in its group was not impressive. A hold-up tactic is expected this time, but finishing kick may not be sufficient to match rivals, and it requires further conditioning.
