SPARKLING FELLOW

Raced a dirt trial 1050m on May 28th, starting from the rear and looking to the outside on the straight before moving up. Four weeks ago in a similar race, he showed excellent form; despite a slow start and tracking near the rear, he maintained steady pace throughout, recovering some ground in the final stages to finish second, beaten only half a length. He has since had an acceptable trial performance. With current group timing being decent and favorable barrier draws, if he settles in off the pace, his finishing kick is the sharpest in the group. Even if he needs to carry an extra two pounds this time, and considering his record of no wins in eleven starts, he is still considered a contender.
