CLEMENT LEGEND (V Borges), which was leaning on the outside of its stall as the start was effected, began awkwardly. When CLEMENT LEGEND began awkwardly, V Borges momentarily lost the use of his left stirrup iron. From the outside barrier, VINCY was steadied and shifted across behind runners shortly after the start. ABOVE was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. When being steadied to obtain cover behind GOD OF DRAGON passing the winning post on the first occasion, CHEERFUL LEADER commenced to over-race and proved difficult to settle, resulting in ABOVE being able to improve its position inside CHEERFUL LEADER. CHEERFUL LEADER was consequently left racing wide and without cover and near the 1700 Metres was allowed to improve its position into the lead near the 1500 Metres. CLEMENT LEGEND was left racing wide and without cover after the 1600 Metres. Passing the 1000 Metres, ABOVE momentarily raced tight inside CLEMENT LEGEND. Rounding the Home Turn, BLASTOISE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHEERFUL LEADER which lay out. At the entrance to the Straight, CLEMENT LEGEND raced in restricted room outside ABOVE which was awkwardly placed behind BLASTOISE. Approaching the 200 Metres, A Badel (LONDON HALL) dropped his whip. After the race, J Moreira expressed concern regarding the action of GOD OF DRAGON. A veterinary inspection of GOD OF DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, GOD OF DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of CLEMENT LEGEND immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer”. GOD OF DRAGON, BLASTOISE and VINCY were sent for sampling.

TIGERLAD was withdrawn on 29.10.20 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (multiple lacerations to all limbs) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter EURO LAGO. Before being allowed to race again, TIGERLAD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BELLA BABY began only fairly and then became unbalanced after being hampered by FOX CHEUNGER which shifted out after being bumped by WINNING WARRIOR. In this incident, WINNING WARRIOR and FOX CHEUNGER also became unbalanced. STRONG PROMISE shifted out at the start and bumped ONE STEP AHEAD. On jumping, ROCKET HAMMER was steadied away from the heels of ROCHFORD which shifted in. From wide barriers, GREEN ENVY and EURO LAGO were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. Passing the 800 Metres, BELLA BABY got its head up when travelling keenly and awkwardly placed behind WINNING WARRIOR. Approaching the 650 Metres, PLIKCLONE raced tight outside MOON PEAKS. MOON PEAKS was then awkwardly placed behind ROCHFORD passing the 500 Metres. At the 450 Metres, FOX CHEUNGER was brushed by ONE STEP AHEAD which improved into tight running to the outside of MOON PEAKS. FOX CHEUNGER then continued to race tight outside ONE STEP AHEAD which shifted out to obtain clear running. Near the 350 Metres, MOON PEAKS was awkwardly placed outside the heels of ROCHFORD which was racing tight outside BELLA BABY. When questioned, H T Mo stated that he was asked to ride ROCHFORD positively and obtain a forward position. He said it was felt that ROCHFORD may be able to lead or obtain a trailing position behind the lead. He said in accordance with his instructions he rode his mount vigorously for some distance in the early stages to obtain as forward a position as possible. He said, despite being ridden along, ROCHFORD did not show sufficient speed to be able to lead and after the 900 Metres was left racing three wide and without cover outside MOON PEAKS. He added passing the 750 Metres he elected to ride his mount forward in an endeavour to clear TELECOM MISSILE and possibly APOLLOS BOW which were sharing the lead. He said, despite being ridden along, ROCHFORD was not able to improve its position sufficiently to clear those horses and this resulted in the horse continuing to race three wide and without cover. H T Mo was advised that his decision to go forward and make use of ROCHFORD from the 750 Metres lacked judgement, given the unlikelihood that ROCHFORD was going to come from behind TELECOM MISSILE into the position to be able to clear that horse. He was told to ensure that he rides his mounts in such a manner that they are able to finish off the race as best as they can in the circumstances which are presented. A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN MISSION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. TELECOM MISSILE, PLIKCLONE and ONE STEP AHEAD were sent for sampling.

On arrival at the barriers, H N Wong expressed concern regarding SEIZE THE SPIRIT’s action. SEIZE THE SPIRIT was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that after the necessary consultations the horse was suitable to race. After being loaded into the barriers, STAY CHILL reared abruptly and got its left front leg over into the adjoining stall as well as its right front leg up onto the front barrier gate. It then took some time for STAY CHILL to be able to be removed from the barriers. Acting on veterinary advice that STAY CHILL was not suitable to race, that horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. When STAY CHILL became fractious, JADE PHOENIX and MY SUGAR, which were in the adjoining stalls, were also removed from the barriers as a precaution. Before being allowed to race again, STAY CHILL will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. RHAPSODY and LUCKY RUBY bumped at the start. RHAPSODY was then crowded for room between LUCKY RUBY and SEIZE THE SPIRIT which shifted in and then shifted in further after becoming unbalanced as a result of contact on the hindquarters from RHAPSODY. ULTRA EXPRESS was crowded for room on jumping between HELAKU KNIGHT and ONE HAPPY STAR which shifted in. MY SUGAR and SURE WIN WIN bumped at the start. From wide barriers, MASTER ALBERT and CHARITY GRACE were steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Making the turn after the 900 Metres, MY SUGAR raced tight outside SEIZE THE SPIRIT which made the turn awkwardly. After this, SEIZE THE SPIRIT was reluctant to maintain its position and despite being ridden along lost ground which resulted in ULTRA EXPRESS becoming unbalanced and being checked away from the heels of SEIZE THE SPIRIT near the 700 Metres when that horse shifted in. CHARITY GRACE, which was following ULTRA EXPRESS, got its head up and shifted out away from the heels of that horse in consequence. Passing the 500 Metres, GOLDEN LINK and RHAPSODY raced tight as RHAPSODY improved into tight running between GOLDEN LINK and LUCKY RUBY. At the entrance to the Straight, MASTER ALBERT was bumped by CHARITY GRACE which made the Home Turn awkwardly after shifting to the outside of SURE WIN WIN to obtain clear running. In this incident, both CHARITY GRACE and MASTER ALBERT became unbalanced. Near the 50 Metres, CHARITY GRACE, which was closing off the race strongly, was shifted to the outside of SURE WIN WIN as a result of that horse shifting in when awkwardly placed behind HELAKU KNIGHT. After this, SURE WIN WIN was held up for clear running behind HELAKU KNIGHT and consequently was not able to be ridden out to the end of the race. Mr P F Yiu, the trainer of GOLDEN LINK, explained that whilst it was his preference for the horse to be ridden in about a midfield position from the outside barrier, he believed that there was a likelihood that GOLDEN LINK would be left racing wide and perhaps without cover. He said he therefore elected to instruct V Borges to obtain a forward position to avoid covering unnecessary ground. RHAPSODY and MY SUGAR were sent for sampling.

At the time of declaration, C Schofield notified a probable overweight of 1 lb in respect of SPEED FAY FAY’s allocated weight of 118 lbs. C Schofield then weighed out 2 lbs overweight and on return to scale weighed in at 121 lbs. As Jockey Schofield weighed in 2 lbs over the weight notified at the time of declaration, he was fined the sum of $7,000. CASIMIRO began only fairly. SPARKY STAR began awkwardly. TELECOM ROCKET was hampered on jumping by MORE THAN ENOUGH which was taken out by GO GOAL TOBY which shifted out after being bumped by FAST PACE. From wide barriers, DAILY CHARM and LEADING FORTUNE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After travelling a short distance, SPARKY STAR was shifted in away from the heels of DAILY CHARM which, when being steadied to obtain cover, was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SPEED FAY FAY. Near the 1000 Metres, KASI FARASI was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 750 Metres, DAILY CHARM was checked away from the heels of CASIMIRO which got its head up when travelling keenly and being checked away from the heels of TELECOM ROCKET which was awkwardly placed behind PEARL CHAMPION. At the same stage, SPARKY STAR shifted out away the heels of SMART CHARADE which was awkwardly placed behind FAST PACE, resulting in LEADING FORTUNE being taken wider and without cover. Approaching the 300 Metres, GO GOAL TOBY raced in restricted room between TELECOM ROCKET and KASI FARASI. Then over the final 200 Metres, GO GOAL TOBY lay out under pressure, requiring its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount on a number of occasions. Approaching and passing the 300 Metres, CASIMIRO raced tight inside FAST PACE when disappointed for running between that horse which raced tight inside the heels of TELECOM ROCKET and SPEED FAY FAY. After this, CASIMIRO had difficulty obtaining clear running and consequently was not able to be fully tested. MORE THAN ENOUGH had difficulty obtaining clear running in the Straight and consequently was not able to be fully tested. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on SPARKY STAR at the request of Trainer D J Hall. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SPARKY STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of GO GOAL TOBY and SMART CHARADE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. KASI FARASI, SPEED FAY FAY and MERCURIAL were sent for sampling.

When parading behind the barriers, K Teetan was dislodged from AMAZING ROCKY without incident. FORTUNE MASTER shifted in abruptly at the start and bumped SOARING TOWER which became unbalanced when crowded for room outside RUN RUN GOOD which also became unbalanced after making contact with SOARING TOWER. From wide barriers, WINNING GENGHIS and VICTORIOUS LEADER were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. GALACTIC lost its left hind plate in the early stages. Approaching the 1100 Metres, DRAGON IN FIELD, which was travelling keenly when attempting to obtain cover, was brushed by GALACTIC which raced tight outside AMAZING ROCKY. Making the turn near the 850 Metres, GALACTIC, which was travelling keenly, was steadied away from the heels of PEGASUS GLORY (K C Leung) which shifted in when not properly clear. K C Leung was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is fully clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. For some distance after the 800 Metres, DRAGON IN FIELD proved very difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed behind GALACTIC. Then passing the 700 Metres, when continuing to travel keenly, DRAGON IN FIELD shifted out and bumped FORTUNE MASTER, causing DRAGON IN FIELD to become unbalanced. SOARING TOWER, which was following DRAGON IN FIELD, shifted out away from the heels of that horse in consequence, resulting in RED MAJESTY shifting out from behind SOARING TOWER, causing VICTORIOUS LEADER to be taken wider. Approaching the 500 Metres, SOARING TOWER shifted out abruptly away from the heels of FORTUNE MASTER (T Piccone) which became badly unbalanced when racing tight outside GALACTIC. After the race, T Piccone stated that after this incident FORTUNE MASTER did not feel comfortable in its action over the latter stages of the race. A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE MASTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE MASTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. At the entrance to the Straight, VICTORIOUS LEADER raced tight outside RED MAJESTY which shifted out. After this, VICTORIOUS LEADER lay in under pressure and proved difficult to ride. Passing the 200 Metres, MONKEY JEWELLERY was brushed by REWARDING TOGETHER which improved into tight running between that horse and PEGASUS GLORY. Throughout the race, MONKEY JEWELLERY travelled wide and without cover. After the race, it was reported that GALACTIC had sustained minor abrasions to the left hind fetlock and pastern. A veterinary inspection of AMAZING ROCKY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. GALACTIC, SOARING TOWER and PEGASUS GLORY were sent for sampling.

BIG LUCK CHAMP was withdrawn on 31.10.20 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter NATURAL WINNER (A Badel). EASY DAZZLING was withdrawn on 31.10.20 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (colic) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter CORDYCEPS KING (Z Purton). SAM’S LOVE was also withdrawn on 31.10.20 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, BIG LUCK CHAMP, EASY DAZZLING and SAM’S LOVE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PERFECT TO PLAY, which was standing awkwardly in the barriers, was slow to begin. CORDYCEPS KING and SOLAR POWER bumped at the start. After beginning very well, BEST FOR YOU was steadied in the early stages in an attempt to obtain cover, however, near the 900 Metres was left racing wide and without cover. BEST FOR YOU was then taken wider again passing the 700 Metres when CORDYCEPS KING shifted out from behind SUNNY LAD. From wide barriers, HALL OF CHAMP, WINWIN THIRTYTHREE and AUTHENTIC CHAMP were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1100 Metres, MARVELOUS FANS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CORDYCEPS KING which was steadied to obtain cover behind SOLAR POWER. Passing the 900 Metres and again near the 800 Metres, WINWIN THIRTYTHREE got its head up when travelling keenly and awkwardly placed behind HAPPY JAI JAI. Approaching the 600 Metres, MARVELOUS FANS raced in restricted room between HALL OF CHAMP and THE DRIVE which improved to the outside of SOLAR POWER. In the early part of the Straight, CORDYCEPS KING shifted ground on a number of occasions when racing greenly and passing the 400 Metres shifted in and bumped THE DRIVE which became unbalanced and in turn made contact with the hindquarters of SOLAR POWER. After this, CORDYCEPS KING commenced to give ground and after being momentarily awkwardly placed between THE DRIVE and COPARTNER ERA passing the 300 Metres then continued to give ground. A veterinary inspection of CORDYCEPS KING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of CORDYCEPS KING, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CORDYCEPS KING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WINWIN THIRTYTHREE and MARVELOUS FANS had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. In the early part of the Straight, COPARTNER ERA was held up for clear running. COPARTNER ERA was again held up for clear running after the 200 Metres and over the concluding stages was not able to be fully tested when racing in restricted room between SUNNY LAD and NATURAL WINNER. A veterinary inspection of MARVELOUS FANS immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a minor laceration to the right hind cannon. A veterinary inspection of THE DRIVE immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. MARVELOUS FANS, AUTHENTIC CHAMP and HALL OF CHAMP were sent for sampling.

MASSIVE POCKET began awkwardly and lost ground. MASSIVE POCKET was then crowded for room a short distance after the start between HAPPY FUN and WINNER SUPREME which shifted out away from MULTIMILLION. SMART FOLKS was crowded for room on jumping between GOLD CHEST and WINNING METHOD which was taken out by STRONGER. DUKE WAI was slow to begin. SUNNY BOY began awkwardly. Passing the 800 Metres, WINNING METHOD was awkwardly placed behind LARSON. Near the 250 Metres, DUKE WAI was crowded for room outside UTOPIA LIFE after improving into tight running outside that horse. In this incident, UTOPIA LIFE became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by DUKE WAI. After this, DUKE WAI continued to race tight outside UTOPIA LIFE until after the 200 Metres. After the race, Apprentice C L Chau stated that after coming under pressure in the middle stages, GOLD CHEST did not quicken as he anticipated after the 400 Metres and then finished off the race only fairly over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of GOLD CHEST immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Also after the race, Z Purton stated that WINNING METHOD was on and off the bridle throughout the race. He said WINNING METHOD came under heavy pressure passing the 500 Metres and then, in his opinion, finished off the race only fairly. He added whilst WINNING METHOD was able to race successfully over 1000 Metres earlier in its career, he was of the opinion that the horse is better suited over distances of longer than that of today’s race. A veterinary inspection of WINNING METHOD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. WINNING METHOD, STRONGER and MULTIMILLION were sent for sampling.

TIME WARP was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, TIME WARP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SUPER OASIS began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped DANCES WITH DRAGON which in turn shifted out and bumped SOUTHERN LEGEND. After this, DANCES WITH DRAGON was steadied to obtain cover. SAVVY NINE shifted out at the start and made contact with BUTTERFIELD. From a wide barrier, SINGAPORE SLING was shifted across behind runners in the early stages, however, was left racing wide and without cover near the 1000 Metres. Passing the 1700 Metres, PRECIOUSSHIP was awkwardly placed inside the heels of DARK DREAM. Near the 250 Metres, HO HO KHAN was shifted to the outside of PRECIOUSSHIP after being disappointed for running inside that horse. When questioned, M Chadwick stated that as he was instructed to take up a forward position on CHEFANO, he had to make a lot of use of the horse in the early stages to clear runners to his inside and race outside SOUTHERN LEGEND after the 1400 Metres. He said after coming under heavy pressure prior to the 750 Metres, CHEFANO did not respond to his riding and gave ground noticeably in the early part of the Straight. Mr D A Hayes, the trainer of CHEFANO, stated that in pre-race discussions with the owners of the horse, it was felt that following the withdrawal of TIME WARP, CHEFANO may be able to obtain a forward position from the outside barrier due to the horse carrying a very light weight. He said CHEFANO had previously been ridden in a forward position over the course and distance and the owners felt that the circumstances of the race provided the horse with the opportunity to be ridden prominently. He added CHEFANO had to be ridden far more aggressively than was anticipated to obtain a forward position and because of this was then not able to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of CHEFANO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of BUTTERFIELD and SAVVY NINE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FURORE and EXULTANT were sent for sampling.

On arrival at the barriers, it was noted that TRANSCENDENT had blood at its mouth. TRANSCENDENT was examined by the Veterinary Officer and found to be suitable to race. INNER FLAME and BEAUTY KOBE were crowded for room on jumping between FLYING ON THE TURF which shifted out after being bumped on the hindquarters by INNER FLAME and DUBLIN STAR which shifted in. LIKE THAT was steadied to obtain cover in the early stages. From wide barriers, CLASSIC POSH and TRANSCENDENT were also shifted across behind runners to obtain cover in the early stages. After being ridden along for a short distance after the start, PAKISTAN FRIEND was shifted across behind runners in the early stages from the outside barrier. BEAUTY KOBE travelled keenly approaching and passing the 800 Metres and then after the 800 Metres was left racing wide and without cover. At the entrance to the Straight, LIKE THAT was shifted in away from the heels of TELECOM FIGHTERS to improve. Passing the 100 Metres, LIKE THAT was directed to the outside of SCORES OF FUN to continue improving. Close to the finishing line, TRANSCENDENT raced tight inside CLASSIC POSH which lay in under pressure. When questioned, A Badel (YEE CHEONG PEGASUS) stated that rounding the Home Turn he was following KA YING MASTER and at the entrance to the Straight commenced to shift out to obtain clear running. He said he anticipated that BEAUTY KOBE would be a strong chance in the race and therefore he positioned YEE CHEONG PEGASUS to the outside of ROMAN TURBO with a view to following BEAUTY KOBE into the race after the 400 Metres. He said when BEAUTY KOBE did not quicken as he anticipated, he believed that he would have had to make some contact with that horse in order to improve into tight running between BEAUTY KOBE and ROMAN TURBO. He said whilst there was space between those horses, he believed that it was a tight run and given the position of YEE CHEONG PEGASUS and BEAUTY KOBE near the 350 Metres, he did not believe he was in a position to be pushing BEAUTY KOBE wider to ensure that there was sufficient room to improve between that horse and ROMAN TURBO. He added for this reason he elected to shift back to the inside of ROMAN TURBO to obtain clear running passing the 300 Metres. He said he was able to ride YEE CHEONG PEGASUS out fully until very close to the finishing line at which stage he was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KA YING MASTER which drifted in under pressure. He said because of this he was not able to ride YEE CHEONG PEGASUS out close to the finishing line. When questioned regarding the performance of SCORES OF FUN, J Moreira stated that he had to do more work in the early stages to obtain a forward position from the wide barrier. He said after initially racing outside KA YING MASTER leaving the 1000 Metres, he then allowed SCORES OF FUN to improve into the lead as KA YING MASTER was being steadied by its rider. He said SCORES OF FUN relaxed nicely in the middle stages and whilst he anticipated that the early work that he had to do on SCORES OF FUN to cross runners may have made it difficult for the horse to finish off the race strongly over the concluding stages, he was disappointed with the fact that SCORES OF FUN came under pressure so quickly after the 300 Metres when headed by KA YING MASTER. He added SCORES OF FUN was finishing off the race one-paced until near the 100 Metres at which stage it then came under heavy pressure. A veterinary inspection of SCORES OF FUN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, Apprentice C L Chau (INNER FLAME) stated that after being fractious in the barriers and then being crowded for room on jumping, he was not able to obtain as forward a position as had been anticipated on the horse. He said he had to ride INNER FLAME along for a considerable distance in the early stages to obtain as close a position as possible and after obtaining a position in advance of midfield after the 1000 Metres, INNER FLAME then travelled only fairly in the middle stages. He said he placed INNER FLAME under pressure after the 400 Metres when able to obtain clear running outside FLYING ON THE TURF, however, INNER FLAME did not quicken and then was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of INNER FLAME immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY KOBE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SCORES OF FUN, KA YING MASTER and WINNING FOR ALL were sent for sampling.

GIFT OF LIFELINE and HEZA BEAUTY began only fairly. PURE LEGEND and TRUE LEGEND bumped at the start. Near the 1300 Metres, PURE LEGEND and HEZA BEAUTY raced tight. When travelling wide and without cover, CHATER PINS proved very difficult to settle after the 1000 Metres and got its head up for some distance before being able to obtain cover behind TAKE WHAT YOU NEED near the 900 Metres. After the 500 Metres, ANGEL OF MY EYES was awkwardly placed outside the heels of CHATER PINS which got its head on the side and shifted out away from E STAR as that horse was shifting to the outside of CHANCHENG PRINCE to obtain clear running. Passing the 150 Metres, GIFT OF LIFELINE was directed to the inside of MARVEL DRAGON which shifted out when awkwardly placed outside the heels of TRUST ME. Throughout the race, TAKE WHAT YOU NEED travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, Z Purton (ANGEL OF MY EYES) stated that in pre-race discussions with Mr C S Shum, the trainer of the horse, it was felt that there was good pace engaged in the race and were ANGEL OF MY EYES to be ridden to obtain a forward position from the wide barrier, too much use would have to be made of the horse and therefore ANGEL OF MY EYES may not be able to finish off the race. He said due to the anticipated strong tempo, it was felt that the best option for ANGEL OF MY EYES was for the horse to be ridden more quietly than previously and attempt to obtain a position with cover in about midfield. He said after shifting ANGEL OF MY EYES across in the early stages he was able to obtain a position behind CHATER PINS behind midfield. He said after obtaining clear running in the Straight ANGEL OF MY EYES finished off the race only fairly given that PURE LEGEND in particular was able to come from behind ANGEL OF MY EYES to finish in advance of his mount. He added, given that ANGEL OF MY EYES was having only its 5th race start today, he was unsure as to whether ANGEL OF MY EYES’ disappointing performance was attributable to the horse being ridden more quietly than it previously had been. A veterinary inspection of GIFT OF LIFELINE, MARVEL DRAGON, CHANCHENG PRINCE and TRUST ME immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ANGEL OF MY EYES, E STAR and HEZA BEAUTY were sent for sampling.
