Approaching the 400 Metres, FIRST BABY became unbalanced when bumped by FLY ME TO THE MOON which commenced to give ground. Making the Home Turn, CHATER SILK was steadied when following FLY ME TO THE MOON which continued to give ground. Near the 100 Metres, KING HOGAN was checked when crowded for room inside REALLY HAPPY which shifted in away from FIRST BABY (G Boss) after initially being taken in by that horse which shifted ground while hanging. G Boss was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to make a greater effort to prevent his horse from shifting ground. In the Straight, HAPPY CRUSADER and THE WITCH'S BROOM hung in. Throughout the race, DR POSSI travelled wide and without cover. W M Lai (AMBITIOUS OWNER) explained approaching the winning post on the first occasion he anticipated HAPPY CRUSADER would shift across to race behind the leader on the fence and this would enable him to follow that horse across and obtain a position with cover. He said at this time FIRST BABY was ridden along to obtain a position inside HAPPY CRUSADER and as a consequence that horse was not able to shift to the fence. He said this resulted in AMBITIOUS OWNER then travelling in a three wide position initially with cover behind DR POSSI. He said near the 1000 Metres AMBITIOUS OWNER commenced to over-race and proved difficult to settle. He said at this time HAPPY CRUSADER was also proving difficult to settle and shifted to a three wide position from behind FLY ME TO THE MOON. He said as a consequence of this AMBITIOUS OWNER was left racing wide and without cover when DR POSSI went forward near the 800 Metres. I'M NO SQUARE, FIRST BABY and CHATER SILK were sent for sampling.
