On jumping, WIN-A-LOT which began awkwardly and MASSIVE STAR were checked when crowded for room between COOL CAT and SILENT DRAGON, both of which shifted ground. For the major part of the race, MASSIVE STAR had its head on the side and hung out. When questioned, Apprentice C W Wong (SCOOT DA LOOT) explained he had been instructed to have the horse travel where it was comfortable. He said SCOOT DA LOOT had been fractious in the barriers, when the gates opened bounded in the air, got its head up and lost ground. He said after this SCOOT DA LOOT travelled comfortably in a rearward position and closed the race off strongly. Apprentice Wong was told to ensure he allows his mounts sufficient rein to jump cleanly. SILENT DRAGON and BULB KING were sent for sampling.
