EVER BRIGHT was slow to begin. EYSHAL began awkwardly, stumbled and as a result W C Marwing, its rider, became unbalanced. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, EYSHAL was steadied away from the heels of BEST FRIEND which in turn was steadied away from the heels of PACKING WINNER. At the 650 Metres, JOYFUL WINNER was checked when crowded for room between PACKING WINNER (K T Yeung) which shifted out and SIGHT WINNER (D Whyte) which shifted in. In the circumstances, both K T Yeung and D Whyte were reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. At the 400 Metres, BEST FRIEND, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted to the inside of CALIFORNIAMOUNTAIN. Passing the 400 Metres, EYSHAL was steadied when having difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 100 Metres, SIGHT WINNER was steadied when awkwardly placed between CALIFORNIAMOUNTAIN which shifted out slightly and JACKPOT DELIGHT which got its head on the side and shifted ground while hanging. When giving ground in the Straight, GREAT GUY hung in. Throughout the race, SIGHT WINNER travelled wide and without cover. EYSHAL and BEST FRIEND were sent for sampling. After having taken initial evidence from K T Yeung and Trainer L Ho, an inquiry into K T Yeung's riding of PACKING WINNER in the middle stages of the race was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
