SUPER IDEAL was slow to begin. ACCELERATOR was slow into stride. After the 1400 Metres, SUPER IDEAL, which had been ridden along vigorously to make up ground, was checked to avoid the heels of DECAGONAL which was carried in slightly by SPEED OF LIGHT (S K Sit). S K Sit was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to exercise greater care. At the 700 Metres, DECAGONAL was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the hindquarters of SPEED OF LIGHT which got its head on the side and hung in away from LADY FIRST. After this, SPEED OF LIGHT continued to hang in for the remainder of the race and in the Straight proved difficult to ride. After the 400 Metres, LITTLE BIG BOY was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of SUPER IDEAL which was steadied when disappointed for running between LADY FIRST and SPEED OF LIGHT. Then at the 200 Metres, LITTLE BIG BOY was again momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SPEED OF LIGHT. At the 300 Metres, CLASSIC KING and LIGHTNING MOUNT bumped. Approaching the 200 Metres, DECAGONAL had difficulty obtaining clear running. After the 50 Metres, LITTLE BIG BOY was momentarily steadied and shifted out away from the heels of CELESTIAL WONDER which drifted out slightly. In the Straight, MYTHIC STEED hung in. Throughout the race, LIGHTNING MOUNT travelled wide and without cover. MYTHIC STEED was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MYTHIC STEED after the race did not show any significant findings. DECAGONAL and CELESTIAL WONDER were sent for sampling.
