HANDSOME TARGET was slow to begin. At the 500 Metres, HANDSOME TARGET was steadied away from the heels of SUPER CAGA which commenced to give ground. Prior to straightening, PRINCE KALAMOUN was hampered and carried wider by TOP HONOR which shifted out to avoid the heels of SUPER CAGA which continued to give ground quickly. On straightening, POWER DRIFTER, which was giving ground, became unbalanced after being bumped by FAT CHOY ICHIBAN (B Prebble) which shifted out to obtain clear running. B Prebble was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Throughout the race, POWER DRIFTER and FAT DRAGON travelled wide and without cover. The performance of SUPER CAGA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER CAGA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Z Purton (NEW CHAPTER) reported his mount did not handle today’s track conditions. TOP HONOR and POWER DRIFTER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TOP HONOR and POWER DRIFTER after the race did not show any significant findings. FAT CHOY ICHIBAN and OSVALDO were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that GREAT LAND’S STAR had sustained a cut to its right hind fetlock.
