SILVER OSMANTHUS was slow to begin. ROMAN SOLDIER shifted out at the start, resulting in MAC ROW being crowded for room inside THE PEAK which became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by that horse. From wide barriers, MY NAME IS BOND and STRAIGHT GOLD were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. When being taken across behind MAC ROW in the early stages, MY NAME IS BOND got its head up on a number of occasions and proved difficult to settle. Near the 1000 Metres, ROMAN SOLIDER momentarily raced in restricted room between REGENCY KING and FREDERICK ENGELS which shifted out. Passing the 1000 Metres, STRAIGHT GOLD proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FREDERICK ENGELS. Making the turn near the 850 Metres, MY NAME IS BOND commenced to over-race and got its head up on a number of occasions for some distance when racing close to the heels of SILVER OSMANTHUS. After the 800 Metres, MENTOR was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 600 Metres, REGENCY KING commenced to over-race and shifted out when being checked away from the heels of THE PEAK and in doing so bumped MENTOR. For some distance after this, REGENCY KING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of THE PEAK. Rounding the Home Turn, STRAIGHT GOLD got its head on the side and hung out. Also rounding the Home Turn, MY NAME IS BOLD was awkwardly placed when attempting to obtain clear running between TOUCH GO and SILVER OSMANTHUS. Near the 150 Metres, SILVER OSMANTHUS was checked away from the heels of THE PEAK which was giving ground. After this, SILVER OSMANTHUS had difficulty obtaining clear running. Passing the 150 Metres, MY NAME IS BOND was shifted in away from the heels of TOUCH GO. Approaching the 100 Metres, REGENCY KING was momentarily steadied away from the heels of FREDERICK ENGELS which shifted in. In the Straight, TALLEY CLOSE got its head on the side and hung in under pressure. A veterinary inspection of THE PEAK after the race revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils. THE PEAK, FREDERICK ENGELS and RICH TAPESTRY were sent for sampling.
