Steward Report Predict Pace Map
GROOVY was slow to begin and shortly after the start was hampered by SAME WORLD which shifted in. HOT SHOT shifted out at the start, resulting in SCARLET CAMELLIA being crowded for room inside OUTDOOR PEGASUS which began awkwardly and shortly after the start got its head up. From a wide barrier, TREASURE LANDS was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. HOT SHOT travelled wide and without cover until after the 800 Metres at which time it was able to shift in to race outside CHATER WAY. Approaching the 700 Metres, VICTORY MASTER shifted out away from the heels of PACKING TYCOON and in doing so bumped SCARLET CAMELLIA, resulting in that horse being taken wider. Near the 600 Metres, SAME WORLD momentarily raced tight inside FULFIL A WISH which shifted in slightly. Passing the 400 Metres, TURF EXPRESS was steadied when crowded for room between SCARLET CAMELLIA which shifted in slightly and FULFIL A WISH which, when held up for clear running, shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of VICTORY MASTER. GROOVY was unable to obtain clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 150 Metres was steadied when crowded for room between SCARLET CAMELLIA which was hampered when taken out by FULFIL A WISH (Apprentice C Y Ho) and OUTDOOR PEGASUS which shifted in slightly. Apprentice Ho was advised to exercise more care in future. Over the concluding stage, GROOVY was again not able to obtain clear running. When questioned regarding the performance of SCARLET CAMELLIA, Z Purton stated that, in his opinion, the circumstances of today’s race did not suit his mount. He said in the early stages he was able to obtain a position with cover behind HOT SHOT albeit that the horse was left racing in a three wide position. He said when HOT SHOT improved its position near the 800 Metres, he attempted to follow that horse forward so as to ensure that VICTORY MASTER would not be able to shift out. He said however that near the 700 Metres VICTORY MASTER momentarily shifted to the outside of the heels of PACKING TYCOON which resulted in SCARLET CAMELLIA being bumped and becoming unbalanced. He said because of SCARLET CAMELLIA’s action, the horse took some time to become rebalanced. He added that when placed under pressure in the early part of the Straight, SCARLET CAMELLIA initially stayed on satisfactorily, however, the horse was obliged to be steadied away from the heels of FULFIL A WISH after the 200 Metres which resulted in SCARLET CAMELLIA again losing momentum. He said after this SCARLET CAMELLIA finished off the race fairly in his opinion. A veterinary inspection of CHATER WAY after the race revealed that the horse had overreached its right front coronet. A veterinary inspection of SCARLET CAMELLIA and SAME WORLD after the race did not show any significant findings. SCARLET CAMELLIA, PACKING WHIZ and VICTORY MASTER were sent for sampling.
